ESR investigations on lyophilized blood: mixtures with ascorbic acid.
The main contribution to ESR spectra of lyophilized tissues of plant or animal origin usually is given by an anisotropic singlet, which is known to be caused at least in the majority of cases by the adsorption of an ascorbyl radical. Model systems have been investigated in order to discuss experimental parameters, which influence these spectra qualitatively and quantitatively.
متن کاملLamellar keratoplasty with lyophilized tissue for treatment of corneal scarring.
BACKGROUND A pilot study was carried out in Pakistan to assess the feasibility of the use of lathed freeze-dried corneal tissue in the treatment of corneal scarring. METHOD Six eyes underwent lamellar keratoplasty and were followed up for 18 months. RESULTS Visual improvement was obtained in every eye. In one eye, the procedure was complicated by delayed epithelialization of the graft, but ...
متن کاملAn ESR study of manganese binding in plant tissue.
Two different fractions of manganese were found in the maize plant root apoplasm (intercellular space containing cell walls) after soaking the roots in MnCl2 solutions (concentration range 0.01-10 mmol.l-1): (a) an Mn2+ fraction in the water free space (WFS) which gave a characteristic six-line spectrum, and (b) an immobilized fraction that gave no detectable ESR spectrum. Both fractions affect...

Scaffolds with 400 microm pores constructed from hyaluronan modified by benzyl esterification of the carboxylic acid groups (HYAFF-11) and viscous gels created from dodecyl-amidation of hyaluronan (HYADD-3) were implanted subcutaneously into rats for periods of up to 26 and 12 weeks, respectively. Tissue explants were infiltrated with methacrylate resin, sectioned and stained with a broad panel...
